Quality Management System
At BergsmaCSI, we believe that true quality isn't left to chance - it's built into every stage of the coating process. One of the questions we are often asked is, " What's the difference between Quality Control (QC) and Quality Assurance (QA)?"
Our Role: Quality Assurance
BergsmaCSI operates in a Quality Assurance capacity. Every project begins with our CSI Superyacht Coating Assurance Program, which defines he paint system, quality standards, expectations and performance goals. This program not only supports accurate and fair pricing and scheduling for the paint contractor but also forms the foundation for our inspection plan --ensuring that everyone is aligned on quality from day one.
The Contractor's Role: Quality Control
The yacht paint contractor is responsible for Quality Control. Their QC inspector -- whether in-house or independent-- represents the contractor and performs daily inspections to confirm that each stage of work meets project requirements and manufacturer specifications. Since the contractor ultimately delivers the finished surface, they hold primary responsability for controlling quality.
The Owner's Advocate: Quality Assurance
Our Quality Assurance inspectors represent the yacht owner. Appointed by the owner, captain or yacht management company, our QA team conducts hold-point inspections in line with the agreed inspection plan. We verify that the contractor's QC procedures are being followed and that inspections occur at the correct frequency -- as required by the CSI project and coating manufacturer specifications.
At BergsmaCSI, our QA inspectors deliver a level of precision and professionalism that matches or exceeds the QC process -- but without taking over the contractor's role. The responsability and warranty for the finished quality always remain with the paint contractor and their QC personnel.
Why Both QC and QA Matter
Our mission is to help prevent problems before they happen and to share our knowledge and experience with the paint contractor. During the preparation and application phases, we provide independent insight, expert feedback, and practical recommendations to keep your project on track and your finish within the parameters of the CSI paint criteria.
When both QC and QA are carried out correctly, the result is a long lasting, high-quality paint job that minimum meets or exceeds the standards set out in the project specification and contract. If either process is missing, quality suffers.
That is why at BergsmaCSI, we view Quality Control and Quality Assurance as two halves of one complete system -- working together to deliver a world-class finish and lasting protection for your yacht.
